Tricking someone into giving up passwords, keys or approvals by pretending to be a trusted party.

It arrives as fake support accounts, look-alike websites, search ads or urgent emails. The defence is habit: no one legitimate ever needs your phrase, and you should reach sites through your own bookmarks.
