What is Solana?
Solana is a proof of stakeProof of stake A consensus method where validators lock up coins as collateral for the right to add blocks. blockchain designed to process a large number of transactions quickly and cheaply. It launched its mainnet beta in 2020 and is used for trading, payments, NFTs and consumer apps.
Solana’s design pairs proof of stake with a technique called Proof of History, which timestamps events so validators can agree on the order of transactions faster. The trade-off is that running a validator requires powerful hardware. The network has also had several significant outages in its history.
