According to a press release shared with CryptoPotato, the endeavor aims to increase access and awareness of digital assets, blockchain technology, and Web3 among soccer fans in Los Angeles and ACFC players. The collaboration will also focus on financial equity, community engagement, and social impact initiatives.
The newly former ACFC is set to create a “different kind of football club that levels the playing field in women’s sports.” The team has many high-profile owners, including Alexis Ohanian, Natalie Portman, Eva Longoria, Serena Williams, Mia Hamm, and more.
Speaking on the matter was Alexis Ohanian – Seven Seven Six Founder and ACFC Leading Founding Investor:
“Since day one, Angel City has committed to being a leader in women’s football by promoting innovation that propels the game forward.”
As an early crypto adopter, Ohanian said he is “proud” that the soccer team has partnered with a major digital asset platform. He described the collaboration as a “turning point for women’s sports,” which signifies the growing recognition of the “power and influence they wield.”
Kris Marszalek – Co-Founder of CryptoCom – also commented on the news:
“We are a community dedicated to building the future of the internet: Web3. Powered by cryptocurrency, Web3 will be more fair and equitable, owned by the builders, creators, and users. We are thrilled to be joining ACFC as a founding partner, deepening our relationship with the City of Los Angeles while supporting a team that shares our values and is equally committed to helping people achieve financial independence and self-determination.”
Subsequently, Julie Uhrman – President of ACFC – opined that cryptocurrencies and Web3 are “changing our world.” Given the speed of the transformation, the partnership could give women an opportunity to become part of this journey as investors and creators, he added. Uhrman concluded that thanks to non-fungible tokens, the team could create a deeper relationship with the fans.
